Oklahoma Second Roundtable on Values and Justice
Catalyzing a new narrative of community safety and reimagining justice in Oklahoma
Overview
The Education and Employment Ministry (TEEM), in partnership with The Square One Project at Columbia University’s Justice Lab, is pleased to host the second and final Roundtable on Justice and Values in Oklahoma: Catalyzing a new narrative of community safety and reimagining justice in Oklahoma! This two and a half day, multi-location convening will bring together advocates, scholars, artists, community members, justice-impacted people, and more from across the state to reimagine the criminal legal system in Oklahoma. We are inviting participants to dream and to collaborate with friends and new colleagues to create thriving communities that do not rely on systems of punishment and incarceration for safety.
Â
The convening will begin with an evening reception at the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Heritage Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma. There will be an opening performance by the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Women's Drum Circle, followed by a fireside chat with community advocates, Jabee Williams from LiveFreeOKC and Cece Jones-Davis from the Julius Jones Coalition. Jabee and Cece will discuss aspirations for community safety and community violence intervention. We hope you will join us for this evening of fellowship and connection!
